New Tariff Laws for USA Customers

New Tariff Laws for USA Customers

UPDATE: August 26th, 2025

Japan Post, as well as many other worldwide postal services and couriers, will be halting shipments to the US temporarily while everyone figures out this tariff situation. Therefore, we have closed orders for the time being for US customers. We are so very sorry about this, and we hope something good happens soon 🙏

President Donald Trump announced that most shipments from Japan will be subject to new tariffs. Previously, there was a De Minimis exemption on orders under $800, which were not subject to tariffs/import duties. However, Trump will end this exemption starting on August 29th, 2025. We are still unsure of how he is going to implement these tariffs, and we will be monitoring the situation closely for any updates.

Please understand that our refund policy states "In cases that import taxes/duties/tariffs are imposed, it is the customer's responsibility to pay them. Any orders returned to us because the customer refused to pay the import taxes/duties/tariffs will NOT be refunded."

The import taxes/duties/tariffs DO NOT appear on your order form when you checkout. The import taxes/duties/tariffs are paid to the post office/courier at the time of delivery.

We are just a small Mom-And-Pop shop in Japan with customers in over 100 countries, so it is very difficult to stay on top of every country's import laws. Therefore, if you are opposed to paying duties/tariffs, we recommend checking the current tariff situation in your country BEFORE placing an order.

Thank you very much for your understanding, and we are very sorry about this. We value your patronage very much, and we have many customers in the US. We will try to weather this blow the best we can, and we hope that this does not destroy your taste for delicious Japanese snacks, sweets, and drinks. 🥰 We also hope that you still consider us as your official supplier of Japanese delights in the future if the situation improves.

If you hear any updates about shipping from Japan to the USA, please let us know by sending us an email at info@sakusakumart.com. Thank you!
